How do I know if my horse is getting burned from a poultice?
They will usually display behavior that is telling us they are not happy. Stomping legs, running in circles, or even trying to get the product off. Some will even whinny in distress. You need to know the horse because some horses simply don’t want anything on their legs. I will often use Hawthorne’s poultice on a young horse so they get use to product on their legs. Additionally, Hawthorne’s poultice won’t hurt them if they eat it, and there aren’t any bandages involved that they can pull and tug on.
